To meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an active collaboration between academia and business is required. This symposium will highlight challenges and possibilities for collaboration as well as reasonable expectations from academia and industry. The symposium will also explore concrete possibilities for collaboration projects within a few broad areas. One area which will be explored is the effect of climate change on food and water security. Representatives from industry, universities, business schools, agencies and organisations are invited. A panel will present good examples and experiences on business – academia collaboration. Participants will also be invited to discuss possible collaboration projects.
The purpose is to 1) promote cooperation between South Africa and Sweden addressing sustainability issues, and 2) facilitate interaction and cooperation between businesses, researchers, and governmental/non-governmental organizations.
By organizing this event during the SASUF-week, South African and Swedish researchers will be provided an opportunity to discuss sustainability issues pertaining to the SDGs and strengthen cooperation of mutual benefit for Businesses and Academia.
